About Good Measure International

Good Measure Staff

Ministries among the poor in the developing world can always use more prayer and financial support. That's where we come in. We help them communicate with their donors and find ways to tell people they exist.

And we do it for free.

When we find an effective, trustworthy ministry we want to help, we don't charge them for our accounting services or our brochure designs. They don't have to pay us when we work on their website, send out their email updates, or produce a video. It's a great service because ministries among the poor usually don't have the time, the ability or the cash to pay someone to do what we do.

We also work hard at encouraging fellow believers to give generously to missions (see A Little More Would Change the World).

From Bernard Borah:

Dear Friends,

In January 2005, after 4 1/2 years of working with Gospel for Asia in Carrollton, Texas, my wife and I felt the Lord's leading to leave and pursue His desire for us. Just a couple months later, we traveled to India, looking for a way to serve. Specifically interested in exploring the problem of bonded labor, we visited areas most heavily afflicted and looked for solutions.

On this trip we met many faithful men and women, giving their lives in difficult places to serve the most needy in Jesus' name.  Everyone needed help. They needed more prayer support. They needed more financial support. They needed more laborers.

That's when the idea of Good Measure was born. We would return to the US and do everything we could to help Americans see the vast opportunity we have to make a difference in the lives of the world's most oppressed. The Lord commands us and has given us the resources. What's stopping us?

In Jesus,

Bernard

From A Little More Would Change the World:

Dr. Bernard Borah is the founder and Executive Director of Good Measure International.  After completing his masters degree in music at the University of Illinois, he and his wife Jena joined the staff of The Navigators.  After several years of campus ministry, he completed his doctorate at the University of Illinois and taught at Millikin and Eastern Illinois Universities.  Before starting Good Measure International, he led the volunteer department at Gospel for Asia in Carrollton, Texas, followed by the position of Director of Discipleship at Salisbury Church in Charleston, Illinois.

Bernard’s passion is to see the church in America rise up and fulfill the Biblical mandate to use our resources to serve the poor in Jesus’ name. One of his life verses is Isaiah 58:10:

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

We at Good Measure are praying for a movement of God among His people to “spend themselves on behalf of the hungry.”  Our desire is that God in His mercy and grace would use Good Measure International to be part of that process.
